Getting ready for summer

Hello beauties,

It's already April, which means summer is just 2 and a half months away !!

This is thrilling for most but it can be a terror for a lot of girls (and boys) as they're self conscious about their body ! :/

I've been and still and one of those girls. I've learned to love myself and my body thanks to an awesome boyfriend who loves me for who I am and loves my body just the way it is. Since we started dating I've been more confident about myself.

Although I'm more confident it doesn't mean I'm 100% happy with my body. But let's face it, most people aren't.

But it's time to change this! Just because summer is so close it doesn't mean you're out of time to get the body you want !

Make no mistake, I do think everyone should love the body they have and no one should tell you how you're supposed to be, not even society. I just want to help who wants to get what people call "fit", if you don't agree with what I'm doing I respect your opinion, so I hope you respect mine :)

Please note that I'm not a nutritionist nor a person trainer, not even a professional. I'm going to tell you what's working for me on this journey.

So let's get started.

Point #1:
Exercise

I go to the gym at least 4 times a week for 1 hour.
I do everything from cardio to localized exercises to tone up.

I do cardio to improve my resistance and burn calories.
I do localized exercises to tone up.

Attention: sit ups won't make you lose weight or fat. They tone up your abs, but if you have fat on your belly, the abs will be under the fat and not visible.

For my cardio sessions I have two choices: either use the machines available in the gym (like the treadmill or the stationary bike) or join one of the group classes on my gym (like X-celerate - a 45 min. aerobics class -, body jam - a 50 min. hip hop class -, Cycling and air fit - a 50 min class where you do exercises on a trampoline).

For my localized exercises I go to a class named 'Made in Brazil' (which focuses on your buttocks and legs), I do sit ups, push ups, crunches, lunges and squats, or I simply use the machines in the gym for a specific part of the body.

Everyday, at least an hour a day, and within 4-5 weeks you will start to notice results.

For more information on exercises I recommend talking to a professional at your gym or, if you're not a gym person, check out this e-book with exercises: http://www.kaylaitsines.com.au

Point #2
Diet

Watch out what you eat.

This is the most difficult part of achieving your goal, as you can't always resist a snack here and there!

Well there's the problem, the snacks. Most times what we eat for our main meals isn't the problem. What's really keeping you from your goals is what you eat between meals.

A cookie here, some chips there, a sandwich before going to bed… that's what's the little fat you accumulate.

I'm not going to define a day by day meal, because each person has a different diet that suits them. But I will be showing you at the end of every week what I had that week for lunch, so you can have an idea of what I eat.

Just avoid sodas, juices and dairy products. I'm not saying to cut if off completely, because it's  not necessary.

Point #3
Water

I'm sure you've heard this over and over again, but it's true.

Water keeps you hydrated and that's good for you whole body, and it'll reduce your appetite if you add lemon or cinnamon.

Water can help control calories, it helps you to energize your muscles, it helps your kidneys and normal bowl function, it busts out toxins.. I could go on and on about the benefits, but it's easier to say that if you drink water you will benefit from it.

For now I'll leave these 3 point, but if I might be adding more info about this subject as the time goes by and I see more results.

Just to keep you motivated, I can proudly say that i've lost 4 kg (8.8 lbs) in the last 2 and a half months. I didn't lose more because I went on holidays for a whole month and my grandmother cooked for me everyday (so you can imagine what I had to eat) !

I really hope you achieve what you want and I believe you will, just keep your goal in mind and don't give up when it gets harder.

Remember: No pain, no gain !!

I hope you liked it !
